PASADENA, CA. – The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team swept Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Caltech 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 11-5 overall and stay perfect in conference play this season at 4-0.
The Sagehens started off with a perfect 3-0 sweep in the doubles matches against the Beavers.
Emily Chen and Maryann Zhao first got a win in the No. 1 doubles as they didn't lose a game in an 8-0 win. Caroline Casper and Arianna Chen followed up with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and Mae Coyiuto and Maddie Gordon also won 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles match.
After taking a 3-0 lead, Casper started off singles with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles spot as well as Zhao getting a win at No.2 singles by the score 6-1, 6-0.
The Sagehens kept their momentum going as Gordon went on to defeat her opponent in the No. 6 singles match by the score of 6-1, 6-0.
Pomona-Pitzer capped off the day with a win at the No. 4 singles match as Coyiuto earned the victory with a 6-4 win in set one and finished off her match with a 6-1 win in set two to end the day for the Sagehens.
