CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team swept No. 20 MIT 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 10-3 overall and have defeated their seventh ranked opponent of the season.
Pomona-Pitzer then earned wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches as juniors Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen won their match at the No. 1 line 8-2 and sophomore Caroline Casper and sophomore Arianna Chen won capped off doubles with an 8-2 win in the No. 2 spot to send the Sagehens into singles play with a 3-0 lead.
The Sagehens went on to sweep the singles matches as well as Caper started off with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles followed by Hruska who clinched the win in the No. 6 singles match as she defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1.
Arianna Chen followed that up as she defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2 and Kim also won her singles match by the score of 6-4, 6-1.
The Sagehens capped off their sweep as Zhao also went on to win her match in the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and senior Mae Coyiuto won her singles match at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-4.
