CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's and Women's Tennis teams will host Oxford University of England for an exhibition match on Sunday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m.
Two prestigious institutions from across the world will meet to participate in a friendly athletics competition as Pomona-Pitzer and Oxford will compete against each other while the Oxford tennis teams are in the United States.
The Oxford tennis teams are making their international tour to southern California during their spring break and have the opportunity for their varsity teams to train against two top Division III programs before the start of their summer season.
The Pomona-Pitzer Women's team is currently ranked No. 4 in Division III and the men's program is also inside the top-10 in the nation at No. 9.
Oxford will be traveling with a few select players from both the men's and women's teams that will face off against singles and doubles players from the Sagehens' lineups. After the exhibition match, the teams will meet for a lunch social.
"We look forward to playing an exhibition match with Oxford University on Sunday", said women's head coach, Ann Lebedeff. "They have traveled to southern California with a squad of five men and five women and are playing at various colleges and clubs during their stay. We look forward to a friendly exhibition match featuring men's and women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles."
The scores will not count against either teams overall records and will be considered a non-countable NCAA contest.
