Women Swim & Dive: Kauahi Makes NCAA B Cut at Sixth Street Dual Meet

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim and Dive Team looked to impress in the first day of the Sixth Street dual meet and came away with several positive results despite trailing 62-49.

The Sagehens opened up with a second place finish in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, as Angela Ling, Hannah Dorris, Sabrina Kwan, and Kate Denend combined to finish at 3:56.11.

In the 500 Freestyle, Katherine Lauerman took second at 5:11.14 while Kirsten Mortimer took third at 5:11.35 while Anna Newman finished in fourth at 5:12.71. Lavinya Yap secured second at the 200 Individual Medley at 2:14.50.

Maddie Kauahi had a close race in the 50 Freestyle, going neck-to-neck against Jocelyn Crawford of CMS. Kauahi ended up in second at 23.67, just 0.03 behind Crawford. Her time made the NCAA B cuts.

The Hens took first place in the final swimming event of the day, the 200 Freestyle Relay. Denend, Kwan, Alex Seidel, and Kauahi won the race at 1:36.18. Ling, Mortimer, Allison Liu, and Denise Dao worked to a third place finish at 1:38.95.

Emma van der Veen won the 1-Meter Diving event, scoring 238.43 on the board.

The Hens will conclude the Sixth Street meet tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at Haldeman Pool.
