Women's Soccer: Sagehens Bounce Back With 3-0 Win Over Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Fontbonne 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens bounce back after losing two games to top-ranked opponents and improve to 3-2 overall while Fontbonne drops to 0-5.

The Sagehens were led by the trio of Lily Gane, Chloe Hamer and Bria VarnBuhler who each scored a goal in today's contest.

Pomona-Pitzer open up the offense against the Griffins as they tallied a total of 22 shots in today's match. The Sagehens found their first goal of the game after Gane found the back of the net off of a pass from Natasha Thornton-Clark to put Pomona-Pitzer up 1-0 in the 27th minute.

The Griffins weathered the offensive storm from the Sagehens for a good portion of the game but Pomona-Pitzer doubled up their score in the 76th minute as Hamer scored off of an assist from VarnBuhler to put the Sagehens up 2-0.

The Sagehens sealed the game just 10 minutes later as VarnBuhler netted a goal of her own off of a pass from Lindsay Mooradian to give Pomona-Pitzer a 3-0 lead.

After scoring only one goal in their last two games, the Sagehens put on a complete offensive performance as they got back on track with a 3-0 shutout win over Fontbonne.
