CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team opened up the Division III United Soccer Coaches National Preseason Poll at No. 10.
After coming off of the best season in program history for Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer, the Sagehens earned a top-10 preseason ranking to open up the 2017 season.
Pomona-Pitzer and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater share the No. 10 spot to open up the season while the Sagehens and Warhawks met in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament with the Sagehens advancing on a 3-0 win.
Pomona-Pitzer (17-1-4, 12-0-3) ended its historic season as the team fell to the University of Chicago in the Elite 8 round of the NCAA Tournament in penalty kicks. The Sagehens ended 2016 with a program record for wins, shutouts, reached their deepest run in the NCAA Tournament and also became the only SCIAC school to reach the Elite 8.
The Sagehens begin 2017 with two top-10 matchups as they host the University of Chicago for an Elite 8 rematch on September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. and then turn around and travel to the defending National Champion Washington University in St. Louis on September 9th at 11:30 a.m. PST.
