LAX: Four Sagehens Named To All-SCIAC Teams

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team had four athletes named to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Conference team as announced by the league office on Friday.

Senior attacker Rebecca Long and sophomore defender Lauren English were tabbed First Team All-SCIAC while freshman Sophie Hubbell and junior Sallie Marx were tabbed Second Team All-SCIAC.

Long led the Sagehens this season and finished second in the SCIAC in goals with 55 and finished fourth in the conference in points with 63. Long had a fabulous career as a Sagehens as she ends her career third on the all-time points list with 204 and third in goals with 168. She also ends her career with the most game-winning goals in Sagehen program history.

English earned her second-straight First Team All-SCIAC award as a defender for the Sagehens and was also First Team All-West Region a season ago. English anchored the back line for the Sagehens all season long and led the Sagehens with 35 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers defender.

Marx earned Second Team All-SCIAC for the second-straight season as the midfielder finished second to English in ground balls with 33 and tallied 35 points this season with 19 goals and 16 assists.

Hubbell had a breakout freshman season for the Sagehens as she earned Second Team All-SCIAC in her first collegiate season. The freshman led the SCIAC in assists with 27 and finished 10th in points with 45.

The Sagehens ended the regular season fifth in the SCIAC with a 6-10 overall record and went 3-7 in conference play.
