Sagehens Explode Offensively For 20-2 Win Over Oglethorpe

Sewanee, Tenn. - Four different players had hat tricks as the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team cruised to a 20-2 win over Oglethorpe on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site game hosted by Sewanee.

The win improves Pomona-Pitzer's record to 7-4 on the year, one day after suffering a narrow 10-9 road loss to Sewanee.

Junior Jana London (Chevy Chase, Md.) had a hat trick in the first 10 minutes of the game, while freshman Grace Geller (Berkeley, Calif. - pictured) had her first career hat trick with three goals in the latter stages of the first half to give Pomona-Pitzer a 10-2 lead going into the break.

Sophomore Julie Necarsulmer (Kennett Square, Pa.) tacked on three goals in the early stages of the second half to become the third Sagehen in the three-goal club, while freshman Sarah Markowitz (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) added a goal in the first half and two in the second.

Pomona-Pitzer also got goals from two of its starting defenders in junior Rachel Kessler (Portland, Ore.) and sophomore Zoe Brown (Seattle, Wash.), the first of her career.

The Sagehens also played terrific end-to-end defense, allowing Oglethorpe to clear the ball successfully only five times in 31 tries, leading to a 35-9 edge in shot attempts.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Monday evening for a home game against Oberlin college at Merritt Field, beginning at 7 p.m.
