Women's Basketball: Tamura Earns SCIAC Defensive Athlete Of The Week

CLAREMONT, CA. – Women's Basketball sophomore Renae Tamura was tabbed Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office.

Tamura helped the Sagehens to their best start in recent memory as they opened SCIAC play with two wins last week. Pomona-Pitzer opened up conference play with an 81-76 overtime win at Redlands and come back home for a big 81-56 win over Caltech.

Tamura registered five rebounds, four assists and four steals in the win over Redlands and hit a huge three in overtime that helped the Sagehens come away with their first conference win of the season. Tamura also had five rebounds and four steals in the win over the Beavers and threw in eight points as well.

Pomona-Pitzer is currently 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the SCIAC as they next take on CMS at home on Wednesday, December 5th at Voelkel Gymnasium.
