ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Oglethorpe 81-46 to end day two of the McWilliams Tournament.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 1-5 overall.
The Sagehens were led by Keilani Ikehara who tallied a team-high 18 points in the loss. Anita Romero tallied 12 points and led the Sagehens with six boards and Renae Tamura was also in double-digits with 10 points. Ikehara was also named to the McWilliams All-Tournament team for her performances in the last two games.
Oglethorpe came out and mounted a lead early as they sparked a 10-1 run to open up the first quarter. The Stormy Petrels had the hot hands from beyond the arc in the first quarter as they shot 71.4% (5-7) to aid them to a 27-9 lead at the end of the first.
The Sagehens were held to a game-low seven points in the second quarter while Olgethorpe continued their impressive offensive first half with 23 points in the quarter to hold a 50-16 lead at the half.
Pomona-Pitzer regrouped at halftime and came out with back-to-back 15-point quarters in the second half and stayed right with the Olgethorpe squad.
The Sagehens were only outscored by just two points in the third quarter 15-13 and came back in the fourth to outscore the Stormy Petrels 15-13 but couldn't overcome the first-half deficit to end the McWilliams Tournament 0-2.
