Claremont, Calif. - Jenn Okonkwo had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but La Sierra jumped out to a big lead early and captured a 70-53 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday evening at Voelkel Gymnasium.
The win completes a season sweep of the Sagehens for La Sierra, which improves to 3-5 on the year. Pomona-Pitzer slips to 1-5 with the loss.
Tina Fantroy had eight points and five assists in the first half, to help the Golden Eagles out to a 39-21 lead at the break. The Sagehens got as close as 13 points early in the second half, but were unable to close within double digits.
Basha Brulee-Wills almost matched Okonkwo with a double-double of her own, but finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Amelia Hummel had 10 points. Fantroy had 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Golden Eagles.
Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Tuesday, when it travels to Biola in its final game before the holiday break.
