Softball: Cortinas Joins Softball Staff

CLAREMONT, CA — Jazmyne Cortinas has joined the Pomona-Pitzer Softball staff as an assistant coach, Head Coach JoAnne Ferguson announced.

"I'm thrilled to have Jazmyne aboard," said Ferguson. "She brings with her a wealth of competitive playing experience and a strong coaching background. Jazmyne will assist in every aspect of our program including recruiting and camp management, speed and agility training, and practice development and implementation. She will be a positive and energetic addition to our staff."

Cortinas brings a wealth of collegiate playing experience to the Sagehen Softball program. At Cal State Dominguez Hills, she started 50 of 51 games behind the plate for the Toros and led the team with 10 home runs and 33 runs scored during the 2015 season.

Prior to joining the Toros, Cortinas appeared in 48 games with 41 starts for Utah Valley University where she notched with 17 RBI and four home runs for the Wolverines.

"I'm excited to join the team here at Pomona-Pitzer and start my collegiate coaching career," said Cortinas. "I'm ready to help the team and Coach Ferguson anyway I can."

On the coaching side, Cortinas was most recently a member of the Cypress High School softball staff for the 2017 season. She also coached travel ball with the Jets Gold softball team from 2015-17 and the USA Athletics this past season.
