Softball: Sagehens Fall to No. 1 Berry

CLAREMONT, CA — The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team dropped two games to the No. 1 Berry Vikings Wednesday afternoon.

Season Impact: The Sagehens move to 5-11 overall. The No. 1 Vikings improve to 21-1.

Game One: Berry 13, Pomona-Pitzer 0 (Five Innings)

The Vikings capitalized off a first inning grand slam to take game one of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

Liz Rodarte and Olivia Campion each finished the game with a hit. 

Rodarte got the start in the circle striking out three. The sophomore leads the Sagehens and ranks fourth in the SCIAC with 38 strikeouts Freshman Alondra Reynoso pitched three innings of relief, striking out one. 

Kasey Locke led Berry with five RBI.

Game Two: Berry 5, Pomona-Pitzer 0

Izzy Deatherage and Marya Ornelas each had a hit, but the Sagehens fell in the final game of the day.

Bianca Cockrell got the start in the circle, going four and a third innings. Emily Rockhill pitched two and two-thirds innings of relief.

Marie Collop led the Vikings with three RBI.

Next Game: The Sagehens return to SCIAC play this Saturday when they travel to Redlands to face the Bulldogs in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
