ELSAH, IL. The No. 5 ranked Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country team took third place in Cowbell Pre-Nationals Invite at Principia College on Saturday afternoon.
The Sagehens finished in third place with 156 points, which was just six points away from SUNY Geneseo who finished with 150. Pomona-Pitzer beat six of the top-15 teams in the country who attended the Pre-Nationals Meet and only trailed to No. 1 North Central and No. 2 SUNY Geneseo.
"I was very happy with today's race", said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "We competed well and executed our race plan on a challenging course. Today we proved that we can run with the top teams in the country and that we will be a team to contend with come nationals in November."
Andy Reischling led the Sagehens with an impressive performance as he finished fourth overall with a time of 24:56.65.
"Andy ran a great race and put himself up front early", said Carpenter. "He made all of the right decision during the race and beat multiple All-Americans while finishing inside the top-five."
The next highest scoring Sagehen was James Kinney who finished in 30th overall clocking in at 25:46.69. Right on Kinney's heels was Colin Mulligan and Julian DeGroot-Lutzner with Mulligan in 36th place as 25:53.86 and DeGroot-Lutzner ended the race in 38th overall with his time of 25:54.97.
The Sagehens had one more runner place inside the top-50 as Carter Stripp clocked in at 26:05.90 in 50th overall. Jeremy Adams and Owen Woo finished in a pack as Adams took 59th with a time of 26:09.62 and Woo took 63rd at 26:13.40.
