Men's Cross Country: Reischling Sets Course Record As No. 5 Sagehens Sweep Multi-Duals

LA MIRADA, CA. – The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country team raced to a perfect 8-0 record at the SCIAC Multi-Dual meet at La Mirada Park on Friday afternoon.

The Sagehens defeated all eight SCIAC schools including notable wins over No. 19 CMS (23-36) and No. 22 Occidental (21-37). Pomona-Pitzer place four runners in the top-10 and had six of the first 15 finishers.

The Sagehens were led by Andy Reischling who finished as the meet champion and set a new course record with a first place time of 25.22.86.

Owen Woo finished inside the top-five with a fifth place finish of 26:02.80 and right on his heels was James Kinney who finished in sixth place overall with a time of 26:03.81.

Julian DeGroot-Lutzner finished his race in 10th place overall as he clocked in with a time of 26:26.97 and Peter Davis finished right behind Lutzner in 11th place overall with a time of 26:27.25.

The Sagehens had three more runners finish inside the top-20 as Carter Stripp took 13th at 26:31.82, Jeremy Adams in 16th at 26:35.06 and Daniel Hill in 18th at 26:58.08.

The next group of Sagehens finished as a trio as Nick Vucovich took 23rd at 27:13.33, Daniel Rosen in 24th at 27:14.13 and Ethan Ashby took 25th at 27:16.30.

Nicholas Borowsky ended in 34th overall with a time of 27:34.27 and Carter Floyd and Hugo Ward finished back to back in 36th and 37th place with times of 27:36.75 and 27:41.47, respectively. Nathan Stringham also finished with a top-50 overall time as he took 43rd overall with a time of 28:01.80.

"I thought the team ran well and executed the race plan on a very hot and challenging course", said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. Andy was able to set a course record even after getting out relatively controlled for the first two miles. We have been working a lot this year on Andy's ability to finish races hard and it was great to see that come together today. The highlight of the meet for me was getting to see Senior James Kinney make his return to the 8k distance. James has not competed at the distance for nearly two years, with his last 8k race being a top-50 finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships. It is great to have him back healthy and competing at a high level."

Up Next: The Sagehens will next run in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, October 14th at 8:30 a.m.
