CLAREMONT, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named five members of the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo Team to the All-SCIAC Team on Thursday afternoon after the Sagehens concluded the regular season with an undefeated record in the conference. Senior Adam Ward took SCIAC Athlete of the Year honors along with his third First-Team All-SCIAC honor, capping an illustrious SCIAC career in which he also won Second Team All-SCIAC and Newcomer of the Year. Ward played an integral role to the Sagehens 22-8 overall record and 14-0 in the SCIAC, scoring 55 goals this season with 35 in conference play.
Joseph Schafer also took First Team All-SCIAC after scoring 42 goals, 21 of which came in conference play. Prior to this season, Schafer won two Second Team All-SCIAC awards in his career, marking the third straight season he was recognized by the conference for his on-pool contributions. Freshman Sam Sasaki impressed in his debut season, taking First Team honors as well after leading the team with 41 assists and scoring 44 goals.
Junior Dylan Elliott took Second Team All-SCIAC after being a crucial two-way player for the Sagehens, netting 45 goals and collecting a team-high 25 steals among field players. His classmate Jacob Niskey also took his second career Second Team honors after scoring 36 goals and snatching 10 steals this season.
