Men's Water Polo: Sagehens Fall To Stanford in Mountain Pacific Invitational

LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team fell to No.3 Stanford 20-7 in the Mountain Pacific Invitational at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-6 overall on the year.

The Sagehens had seven different players score one goal as Adam Ward, Riley Mangan, Dylan Elliot, Joseph Schafer, Mark Hallman, Maxwell Bethel, and Keegan Coleman all scored in the loss.

Stanford came out firing on offense as they outscored the Sagehens 7-1 in the first period and 11-2 in the first half.

Pomona-Pitzer scored back to back goals in the third from Hallman and Coleman but Stanford tacked on four more in the period to take a 15-4 lead heading into the fourth.

The Sagehens netted three goals in the fourth from Schafer, Bethel and Elliot but Stanford was too much for the Sagehens in tonight's match as they dropped their first match of bracket play.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next return home to face off against SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m.
