Men's Water Polo: Three Sagehens Selected to Team USA for Maccabi Games

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Rising sophomores Zach Senator and Sam Gorcey-Biblowitz, along with incoming freshman Adam Gross have been selected as members of Team USA for the upcoming 20th World Maccabi Games, the Maccabi USA Water Polo co-chairs and coaching staff announced.

The World Maccabi Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel, consists of more than 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries participating in 43 different sports. Team USA will send a team of over 1,100 athletes.

"I'm very excited about Sam, Zach, and Adam's selection to Team USA for the Maccabi Games," said Pomona-Pitzer Water Polo Head Coach Alex Rodriguez. "It is a great honor and I wish them the best. Obviously for me, playing for Team USA is one of the biggest honors an athlete can have. I hope they are able to learn and grow from this experience. Athletes from other countries play with a completely different level of intensity. It is an opportunity and experience I would wish for my whole roster."

Gorcey-Biblowitz and Senator combined for 21 goals in their first season as Sagehens, with one of Senator's goals coming in Pomona-Pitzer's SCIAC Championship game win over rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Gross, a Santa Barabra, CA native, will look to contribute to the Sagehen squad this fall.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabi Games, in a celebration of Jewish strength and solidarity.

The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team finished their 2016 campaign with an undefeated conference record on their way to a SCIAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
