Men's Water Polo: Sagehens Finish In 10th Place At Mountain Pacific Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team finished in 10th place at the Mountain Pacific Tournament after a 16-11 loss to UC Davis on Sunday afternoon.

The Sagehens were led by sophomore Adam Ward who finished with a hat trick with three goals. Freshman Joseph Schafer and sophomore Mark Hallman each had two goals in the loss.

Pomona-Pitzer jumped out to an early 4-2 lead in the first period as senior James Baker and Schafer each scored their first goals of the game and Ward found the back of the net twice.

UC Davis had a surge of offense in the second period as they outscored the Sagehens 7-1. Schafer scored the only goal of the period for Pomona-Pitzer as they trailed UC Davis 9-5 at halftime.

Both teams each scored four goals in the third as Ward, senior Timmy Hardman, senior Tommy Turner and Hallman all scored for the Sagehens.

The Pomona-Pitzer offense tried to get back into the game in the fourth quarter but UC Davis was able to hold off the Sagehens for the win.
