Pomona-Pitzer Drops Consolation Match To La Verne

Redlands, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team dropped a 13-9 decision to La Verne in the consolation rounds of the SCIAC Championships on Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Sagehens are now 8-18 on the year and 4-6 in the SCIAC, and will take on Occidental in their final match of the season on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. 

Tommy Turner (pictured) and Phillip Clayman each had three goals to lead the Sagehens, who fell behind 8-5 at the half and were unable to mount a second half comeback. Pomona-Pitzer got within 10-8 at the end of the third, but La Verne was able to outscore the Sagehens 3-1 in the fourth to take the win. 

Ethan Caleb Prater-Fahey had seven saves for the Sagehens in goal. James Baker added two goals for Pomona-Pitzer, while Stephen Vint had one.
