Sagehens Cruise Past Occidental To Remain Perfect In SCIAC

Los Angeles, Calif. - Sophomores Travis Larsen (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and Stephen Vint (El Cajon, Calif.) each had three goals to lead the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team to a 19-6 win over Occidental on Saturday.

The win improves Pomona-Pitzer's record to 6-12 on the year (6-1 since an 0-11 start against 11 nationally ranked teams) and a perfect 3-0 in the SCIAC. Occidental slips to 5-15 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Also joining Larsen and Vint in double figures in scoring were junior Ryan Higgins (Orinda, Calif.), freshman Trevor Roszkos (La Canada, Calif.), junior Robert Chew (Laguna Beach, Calif. - pictured) and sophomore Phillip Clayman (Clovis, Calif.) with two goals apiece.

Pomona-Pitzer led 4-0 at the end of the first quarter and stretched its lead up to 10-1 at halftime, as the Sagehens were never threatened.

Tyler Hill (Lafayette, Calif.) had nine saves in the first half for Pomona-Pitzer, while Austin Strong (Kuai, Hawaii) had six saves in the second half.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. home contest against Redlands.
