Men's Track & Field: No. 5 Sagehens Produce National Marks At PP Invite

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Track & Field team produced several nationally ranked results at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, competing alongside athletes from Division I, II, and III programs across the nation. Prior to the meet, Head Coach Jordan Carpenter took some time to honor the senior members on the team, including Nathan Gallatin, Dan Hill, Andy Reischling, Carter Stripp, Julian DeGroot-Lutzer, and Neel Karody.

"Our group had a great day at our home meet today," said coach Carpenter. "We saw a number of personal bests and some very impressive marks from across the event groups This was our most complete showing as a team."

"We take a lot of pride in hosting a competitive meet like the Pomona-Pitzer Invite, so we certainly want our group to show up and perform up to that competition level. We certainly did that today, and I think our group has a lot of confidence as we head back into our conference meet schedule."

Daniel Tamkin had a solid run through the 200 Meter Dash, setting a personal best at 21.91 seconds. His team was the seventh-best in program history. He took 12th place at the event. In the 400 Meter Dash, Nick Marsano finished within the top-10 at the meeting, placing ninth at 49.55.

Carter Floyd impressed in the 800m Run, taking second overall at 1:51.29. His time was an improvement on his prior mark which was already the top collegiate time in the nation. Danny Rosen set a personal best and the fifth-best time in program history, placing fourth in the 1500m Run at 3:51.48. It is the fourth-best mark in the country. Dante Paskeicz took eighth in the 1500 at 3:53.42, making his time the sixth-best in program history and in the nation.

Over in the throws, Theodora Bazakas finished 18th in the Shot Put with a mark of 43-0.5 (13.12m). Nathan Gallatin finished ninth in the Javelin at 165-01 (50.33m).

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again in multi-dual against Chapman University, Occidental College, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and Cal Lutheran on Saturday, April 13 at Eagle Rock, CA at 10:00 a.m.
