CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim & Dive Team struck gold on Monday afternoon, sweeping the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for Swimming and Diving. Freshmen Jem Stern and Paddy Baylis took SCIAC Athletes of the Week after their outstanding performances at the Sixth Street Rivalry meet from this past weekend.
Paddy Baylis earned his second weekly honor of season after helping the Sagehens to a 203.5-149.5 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS). Baylis set a program-record time in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:56.77 which was good for an NCAA 'B' Cut. He also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:35.51.
Jem Stern earned his third SCIAC Athlete of the Week after making the NCAA 'B' Cuts in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Stern won the 3-meter with a score of 285.25 points (including a 9 on one of his dives), before taking first on the 1-meter board with a score of 278.10.
