Men's Swim & Dive: Menkhoff, Baylis Lead Sagehens To Fresno Victory

FRESNO, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim and Dive Team emerged victorious in their dual meet against Fresno Pacific University, outscoring them 174.00 to 120.00. The Sagehens took first place in 10 events and saw several standout performances from their freshman class, especially Jason Lu and Paddy Baylis.

In the long distance 1000 Yard Freestyle, Baylis took first overall with a time of 9:49.70 while his teammate Jack Swanson took third at 10:03.83. Baylis won again in the 500 Freestyle, clocking in at 4:45.70, more than a second ahead of second place finisher Will Abele who crossed in second at 4:46.29.

Will Abele won the 200 Freestyle at 1:44.29 and Lukas Menkhoff won the 100 Breaststroke at 56.87. Menkhoff also won the 100 Freestyle convincingly with a time of 45.74. Greg Havton took the top spot in the 200 Butterfly at 1:55.05 and Abele followed closely in second at 1:55.47. The freshman Jason Lu won the 200 Backstroke at 1:52.96 and 200 Individual Medley at 1:55.81.

Over at the boards, Jem Stern won the 1-Meter dive with a top score of 274.85. He also won the 3-meter dive at 233.90.

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again on Saturday, November 10 as they head to Whittier College for a dual meet against the host school and Occidental College.
