Promising Start For Hens as Men Break 200 Medley Relay Record

COMMERCE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's swim and dive program got off to a promising start in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet, ending the first day with 142 points, just six points behind leader University of Redlands. The Sagehens had several top finishes and managed to set the conference and meet records in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.

The Sagehens powered through the 200 Medley Relay, as their A Team featuring Nikhil Kundu, Lukas Ming Menkhoff, Ryan Drover, and Adrian Hui took first place with the record-breaking time of 1:29.49, securing 44 points. The B Team, including Peter Hansen, Teddy Koerner, Greg Havton, and Nick Borowsky, took 11th at 1:33.22 for 16 points.

In the 800 Freestyle Relay, Will Abele, Samuel To, Liam O'Shea, and Mark Hallman combined for a first-place finish with a conference meet and open record-setting time of 6:40.53 and earned 44 points. The Sagehens' B Relay Team featuring Andrew Garcia, Jack Swanson, Erik Garcia, and Zachary Senator took 10th at 6:50.60 and secured 20 points.

Over at the boards, Bilguun Altantulkhuur finished in third place in the 3 meter dive, with 464.85 points, enough to break the NCAA B Cuts. His performance earned 18 meet points for the Hens and set the program record. 

The Sagehens will resume competing in the second day, with the preliminary events starting at 9 a.m. and the final at 5 p.m.
