Men's Swim & Dive: Hens Dominate in Chris Knorr Invite Victory

THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim and Dive Team took home first place at the Chris Knorr Invitational hosted by Cal Lutheran University, a solid start to 2018. Competing against the likes of Division I MAAC program Manhattan College, Division II program Fresno Pacific as well as Chapman, UC Santa Cruz, and Cal Lutheran, the Hens won the event with 767.5 total points, 235.5 points ahead of second place Fresno Pacific. The Sagehens sealed first place in eight events, with Samuel To and Liam O'Shea winning two events each.

The Hens won the 400 Yard Medley Relay as their 'A' Team comprised of Nikhil Kundu, Lukas Ming Menkhoff, Samuel To, and Mark Hallman combined to finish at 3:27.66 to earn 40 points at the meet.

Liam O'Shea followed with a top finish in the 200 Freestyle at 1:45.14 while his teammate Jack Swanson followed in second at 1:45.60. With six swimmers in the top-10, the Sagehens secured 80 points in the event to build a significant lead. O'Shea later took first again in the 200 Backstroke at 1:533.83 while Tyler Carmichael took fourth at 2:01.60.

Kundu, To, and Ryan Drover took second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the 100 Backstroke. Kundu crossed at 53.21 while To finished just .31 behind at 53.52. Drover took fourth at 54.66 as the Hens locked up 61 points in the event. In the 200 Breaststroke, Kundu took the top spot at 2:10.54 as the Hens saw four swimmers in the top-12 to secure 61 points.

Nathan Hahn led the Hens with a second-place finish in the 100 Backstroke at 1:00.02 while Connor Wells followed in third at 1:02.41. Teddy Koerner took fourth at 1:02.42 as the Hens saw six swimmers in the top-16 to secure 71 points.

Lukas Ming Menkhoff followed up a successful relay race with a first-place finish in the 50 Freestyle, crossing at 21.38.

Mark Hallman proved to be the best in distance, taking first place in the 500 Freestyle at 4:45.99. Swanson followed in third at 4:47.34 while Zach Senator crossed fourth at 4:50.21. The Hens sealed 61 points in the 500 Freestyle.

Samuel To was victorious in the 100 Butterfly, taking first at 51.69, while Adrian Hui crossed in third at 52.58. To also won the 200 Individual Medley at 1:58.61 while Hallman followed at 1:59.28 to take second. Kundu took third at 1:59.86 to secure a Sagehen sweep in the top-3.

Bilguun Altantulkhuur finished in third in the one-meter dive at 212.50. He also took second in the three-meter at 195.60.

The Sagehens closed out the meet on a high note, as the 'A' Team consisting of Menkhoff, Hui, O'Shea, and Spencer Satz took first at 3:13.00 in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
