LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swim and Dive Team secured a lopsided victory over Occidental College on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Sagehens dominated the competition, taking first place in 13 out of the 14 events they competed in.
The Hens started the event strong, winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay by four seconds over the second place team sent by the Tigers. Samuel To, Lukas Menkhoff, Greg Havton, and Adrian Hui combined to finish the relay at 1:34.82. To also took first place in the 50 Butterfly with a time of 22.77 as well as the 100 Butterfly (51.64). Menkhoff continued his string of impressive performances in his first collegiate season, taking first in the 100 freestyle (46.23). Hui barely beat his teammate Menkhoff in the 50 Freestyle by 0.10 seconds, taking first at 21.45.
In the distance events, Liam O'Shea defeated teammate Will Abele in the 1000 Freestyle, finishing at 9:52.48. Abele crossed in second at 9:55.87. O'Shea also took the top spot in the 200 Individual Medley at 1:55.92. Jack Swanson finished the 500 Freestyle in first place at 4:48.51, outpacing second place Zeke Sebastian of Occidental by more than nine seconds.
Erik Garcia took the top spot in the 100 Backstroke at 54.33 and Nathan Hahn won the 100 Breaststroke at 59.96. Peter Hansen barely beat Garcia in the 50 backstroke, taking first at 25.65 while Garcia finished in second at 25.76. Wesley Chang took first in the 50 Breaststroke at 27.54 and teammate Nick Lewis followed at 28.23.
The Sagehens will host Whittier College and Chapman University on Saturday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m.
