Ferrer's Early 2nd Half Goal Leads Men's Soccer to 2-1 Win Over Whittier

Whittier, Calif. - Aidan Ferrer's goal early in the second half broke a 1-1 tie and gave Pomona-Pitzer a 2-1 conference victory Saturday at Whittier's Graham Soccer Field. With the win, Pomona-Pitzer climbs to 6-5-2 overall and 6-3-1 in SCIAC. Whittier falls to 4-7-1 and 4-6-1.

Pomona-Pitzer scored in the opening two minutes when Whittier's goalie clearance hit Voja Maric and dropped into the Whittier net. The 1-0 lead held until the 37th minute, when Whittier's Jacob Conlon scored off a header for the equalizer. 

The Sagehens scored in the opening two minutes of the second half, when Ferrer drilled a shot off of the Whittier goalie's hand that found the bottom corner to give Pomona-Pitzer the win. Peter Rentzepis (pictured) earned the assist. 

Whittier outshot Pomona-Pitzer, 22-13 on the game, and Sagehen goalie Ben Mitchell recorded six saves. 

Pomona-Pitzer hosts Occidental Monday afternoon at 4:00pm.
