SAN DIMAS, CA. – The Pomona-PItzer Men's Basketball Team came away with their second win of the season after defeating Life Pacific on Tuesday night on the road 68 to 59. After a rough first half in which the Sagehens trailed 31 to 26, the visiting team came back and pulled away late in the second half to earn a hard-fought victory. Micah Elan led the team with 18 points and four assists while Daniel Rosenbaum added 15 points and six rebounds.
The Sagehens found themselves in an early hole, trailing 14-3 to the Warriors in the first half. With 11:29 remaining in the half, Micah Elan helped rally a comeback with a driving layup and Alex Preston cut the lead in half 14-7 after scoring a layup off a dish from Daniel Rosenbaum. Behind 19-14, Adam Rees brought the team back within striking distance with a three pointer off a dish by Elan. The Warriors extended their lead 29-22 with 3:39 left in the half after a layup by Hezekiah Banks, but the Sagehens rallied back after back-to-back layups from Jack Boyle and Preston. The Warriors closed the half with a 31-26 lead.
After trading baskets with the Warriors in the start of the second half, the Sagehens finally tied the game at 37 apiece with 14:13 left on the clock after a 5-0 run thanks to a Rosenbaum layup and an and-one layup from Elan. With 11:09 remaining in the game, Stephen Blomstrom gave the Sagehens their first lead of the night with a three-pointer off a pass from Rees. He doubled with another three to extend the lead 45-39. With 8:33 left on the clock, Corbin Koch drove for a layup to cap a 11-0 run as the Sagehens led 48-39. The Warriors cut the lead to six after a layup from Chez Lister and a three from Edgardo Campos. After Andre Allen hit two free throws to bring the Warriors close 56-52, Elan stretched the Sagehens' lead with 3:17 remaining with a three-pointer. The Warriors tried to come back, but missed their next three shot attempts and the Sagehens defense held the lead until the final buzzer.
