CLAREMONT, CA. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team ended their 2019 season with a four-game sweep over non-conference opponent Linfield with a 7-1 win in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
Throughout the game, sophomore Hunter Hennigh accomplished nothing a Sagehen has before by playing every single position in a single game. Hennigh began the day in right field and then played the following positions by inning: 1st: RF, 2nd: CF, 3rd: LF, 4th: SS, 5th: 3B, 6th: 2B, 7th:1B, 8th: C and 9th: P.
The Sagehens also had one senior play in his final game as a Sagehens as Andrew Phillips got the start in center field and went 0-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Sagehens got out to a lead in the second inning after sophomore Jake Patterson-Kohout hit a solo shot to take a 1-0 lead. Pomona-Pitzer added four more runs in the fourth after Phillips walked with the bases loaded and sophomore Seth Stone cleared the bases with a double down the left line to take a 5-0 lead.
Sophomore Kyle Freeman added one more in the fifth after an RBI single to center, but Linfield got the run back in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI ground out to cut the lead down to 6-1.
The Sagehens added one more as the senior scored the final run of the year as Phillips came around to score on a wild pitch as Pomona-Pitzer ended the season on a high-note with a series sweep over Linfield.
With the win, the Sagehens now end the season 21-18 overall.
