LA VERNE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell in a doubleheader to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent La Verne 8-0 and 14-4 on Saturday afternoon at Ben Hines Field.
Season Impact: With the losses, the Sagehens drop to 20-12 overall and 11-7 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Brian Knapp who went 2-4 in the loss.
Pomona-Pitzer could not find much green grass for the ball to land on as they only tallied three hits in the loss during game one.
The Sagehens fell behind early as the Leopards singled home a runner in the bottom of the first to take a1-0 lead. They extended the lead to 3-0 in the third after back-to-back RBI hits. After getting one more in the bottom of the sixth, the Leopards broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh as they plated four runs on four hits to take a commanding 8-0 lead over Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens could not seem to get on the board against La Verne in game one as they dropped the first two games of the three-game series.
Pomona-Pitzer 4, La Verne 14
The Sagehens jumped out to an early lead as they struck in their first at-bats. Cade Hulse singled to righr field to bring in Jeremiah Quezada and Jeremy Jess followed up with an RBI single to center to bring in Bryce Rogan to take a 2-0 lead over the Leopards.
La Verne struck big in the bottom of the fourth as they plated five runs in the inning to take a 5-2 lead over the Sagehens. Pomona-Pitzer didn't help themselves in the sixth as they surrendered three runs to the Leopards with a bases loaded walk and a throwing error brought in two more to extend the deficit to 8-2.
The Sagehens got some of those back as the Leopards committed an error to score two runs for the Sagehens to cut the lead down to 8-4, but La Verne score three runs in all three of the next innings to take a 14-4 lead and finished off the Sagehens in eight innings.
